Steve Seawright
Steve Seawright is managing member of Seawright Homes LLC, a real estate development firm now in its 38th year of business. Seawright Homes is a subsidiary of Clark Enterprises, Inc. This affiliation brings the resources to design, develop and create the distinctive residential communities that characterize the company’s work.
The company’s diversified portfolio of work and Steve’s experience have extended across single family homes, town homes, luxury high rise condominiums, rental apartments, apartment rehabilitation and office, hotel and industrial development in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Melbourne, FL, Virginia Beach, VA, Harrisburg, PA and Frederick County and Talbot County, MD. The communities have typically been in wooded or waterfront, environmentally distinctive settings. They have achieved recognition for their quality of land planning, site-specific architectural design, landscape architecture and preservation of the natural environment.
Steve is a second-generation builder from a North Carolina home building family. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University, a Masters in business from Harvard Business School and has studied law. Professionally, he is an active participant with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), is currently president of the Frederick County Builders Association, and also was president of the Maryland State Builders Association for calendar year 2011. Holding the NAHB Certified Green Professional designation, Steve is a presenter and instructor before building peers and REALTORS on the science and art of green and sustainable building, land development and other topics pertaining to new home construction and the development process.
Reflective of his company’s commitment to community service, Steve has served on the boards of several non-profit housing corporations. He is currently active with the Korean Community Senior Housing Corporation of Maryland in developing and operating affordable housing for low-income elderly. In 2009, he received “Volunteer of the Year” recognition from the Korean Community Service Center of Metropolitan Washington. Steve is active in Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church where he has served as a church school teacher, Elder and Deacon. The father of two adult daughters, he coached youth soccer for 24 years.
Mary “MO” O’Brien
For 16 years as Community Sales Manger for Seawright Homes, Mary "MO" O’Brien has participated in both the planning and sales of the company communities of The Meadow at New Market (212 homes), The Glen at Woodspring (22 homes) and Harvest Hill at The Orchard at New Market (104 homes).
As a licensed REALTOR, MO is an active participant in the Frederick County Association of Realtors, where she has acquired the Certified Sales Professional designation in new home construction and currently is in the process of receiving the National Association of Realtors “Green” professional designation—concepts and principals of green, energy-efficient building and environmentally sensitive land use not new to MO since Seawright Homes has been in the forefront of green and sustainable building throughout her employment. MO is also a member of the Frederick County Builders Association, where she participates on the Sales and Marketing Council.
Having begun her career as a practicing Registered Nurse, she found a gratifying career cut short by the physical demands of that calling. Yet, over her tenure as a new homes consultant Mo has found that her abilities to empathize and listen enable her to serve her clients exceedingly well and that the personal rewards and satisfaction that flow from serving and helping others obtain the home that best meets both needs and dreams to be remarkably similar to the personal rewards experienced in nursing. And, an important component of those rewards is that relationships which begin as “client-sales consultant” evolve into one of friendship.
A resident of Frederick County for more than two decades (but less than three), MO has two adult sons, both graduates of Frederick County Public Schools and the University of Maryland.
David W. Denny
David Denny, Seawright Homes LLC project manager/general superintendent, brings to his responsibilities an extensive wealth of residential building and carpentry experience. Beginning as a carpentry laborer while in high school, he subsequently apprenticed as a carpenter and became a senior journeyman. In the process leading up to journeyman status he acquired particular expertise in historic renovation, custom millwork and the handcrafted furniture design and construction.
Complementing David’s breath of hands-on experience is an academic path that has included the study of architecture and mechanical drafting and his obtaining an applied science degree in Construction Management, which was awarded Magna Cum Laude. Supplementing this formal education are professional certificates from the National Association Homebuilders, which recognize David as a Certified Master Builder, a Certified Green Building Specialist and an Advanced Green Building Specialist.
Successfully making the transition from a hands-on craftsman to supervision and training of others, he has enjoyed senior management positions with both a large international builder and with a national builder. David returned to home building and assumed his current position with Seawright Homes immediately prior to commencement of site work and home construction for Harvest Hill at The Orchard at New Market. Seawright Homes, Harvest Hill and David’s customers receive the benefit of his 40 years of extensive experience in the home building industry.
The focus and object of David’s expectations and dedication is to provide the best in quality and service for those who will live in the homes he builds. David is an active participant in the Frederick County Builders Association, which in 2007 recognized him as Project Manger/Superintendent of The Year and also accorded his community, Harvest Hill at The Orchard at New Market, the accolade of “Best Frederick County New Home Community”.
David is the devoted father of three children and is an active member of Christ The King Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia.
